Out on the town

This summer is keeping my calendar busy! Events are back in full swing, and vacation is coming! While I have lots to look forward to, I am wondering if I have the wardrobe to keep up with my plans. Most of my closet is athleisure and work wear. But I also want to ensure I have a few things that will be an appropriate fit for my social events. Whether it’s brunch with girlfriends, a dinner date, drinks or a concert… it helps to have a few trendy pieces that can meet your social needs.

This summer has plenty of gorgeous bright color prints to choose from. And if you gravitate towards these, most definitely add it to your wardrobe! But sometimes finding the right print can be overwhelming, and hard to coordinate with other pieces. If you’re looking to keep in simple, go with a solid in a color you're comfortable with. I find black to be a great choice when I’m looking for something versatile that can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Summer calls for dresses. If you are comfortable in dresses, there are a lot of styles to choose from. One of my favorites right now is the elastic waist! It’s everywhere. This easy summer dress from Anthropologie is available in large selection of colors and fabrics. I’ve worn it a couple of times already. It makes for a great base that can be made to fit any occasion with the right accessories.

Another popular summer trend is the one shoulder top. This particular style works well for me, so I have few one shoulder pieces. Again, it can be an easy casual summer top or a slightly dressier blouse. Pair it with a skirt and heels or jeans and flats. I paired this top with a black wrap skirt. The wrap skirt is a big trend this summer and the ruffles add a little extra fun to this popular style. This particular top also has a long matching skirt that would add a bit of elegance to the look for a slightly more formal occasion. The wrap skirt would also work with flats and a t-shirt for a more dressed down look.

For both of these outfits, I kept my accessories simple. Tan sandals and a white crossbody will go a long way this summer. I chose bigger earrings both both outfits but work with whatever you have! These two outfits also make a great weekend getaway wardrobe. One pair of shoes and one bag can go with both!

As always the key is versatility. Find pieces you can wear in multiple way so that you make the most of your investment. Always buy pieces that you love. You have to love how it looks on you. It has to make you smile in the mirror. This is key to having a wardrobe you love. So, what are you waiting for?
