Keep It Simple with Just One Piece
Combining pieces to create an outfit can be a lot of fun! This is your opportunity to be creative and pull together a look that’s all your own. Then again… sometimes, it’s the last thing you want to do. And that’s ok. Sometime we just want to throw something on without thinking about it too much. Sometimes we want to look in our closet and find the easiest answer to our outfit for the day. So, what about making it all about the once piece?
For many of us a dress is the simple answer. Especially in the summer months, a solid simple dress can be a lifesaver. I most definitely have my go to dresses that I rely on when I need to get dressed quick and want something easy. But what about a jumpsuit? Or even a romper? I recently acquired a couple of these pieces that have gone a long way in my closet.
The downside of the one piece jumpsuit becomes obvious when it’s time to go to the bathroom. We all know that having to pull off your whole outfit to pee can be an unappealing offer. However, if you can find a piece that doesn’t require a zipper up the back…. you’re in luck! The jumpsuits I’ve found over the summer have a smocking in the back which make it easy to pull up and down and therefore eliminates the bathroom difficulty. Same goes for the rompers I’ve seen. With buttons down the front or smocking in the back, there is an ease to dressing that makes the option far more appealing.
I also love the versatility of a jumpsuit. At the beginning of the summer, I purchased this one jumpsuit from Old Navy. It’s a linen blend that is lightweight and comes in several colors and prints. I bought it in natural linen and have found it to be comfortable and easy to accessorize. It’s also a very versatile option for my summer wardrobe. I’ve worn it to work, coffee with a friend and even just running errands around town.
This black jumpsuit is a little dressier with a twist front and tie shoulder straps. The wide leg detail makes it extra comfortable… not to mention the pockets! Even with the extra detail, this jumpsuit still provides some versatility as it can be worn with heels or flats for shoes and a jacket or blazer option over the top. Think flip flops and a jean jacket versus wedge sandals and a blazer. Lots of options provide loads of versatility in how your jumpsuit can be worn. (This jumpsuit was purchased last season but I also own a similar version available here.)
What to look for when purchasing a jumpsuit? Adjustable straps are key to making sure you’re comfortable. A pull up option that doesn’t require a zipper is also a plus. Look for a neutral color to ensure your jumpsuit goes further in your wardrobe but as long as the color you choose is flattering to your complexion, you are good to go!
