A little something different…
I’m not ready for fall. I’m in total denial. And while we’ve had a few cold days here in the Northeast…. I just can’t force myself to pull out my winter wardrobe. I do think Mother Nature is going to buy me a few extra days as we’re experiencing warmer temps this week.
So, before I jump into fall, a few more words on my summer wardrobe. I’ve found that the items that I like the most are unique in some way. Whether it’s an uncommon print or a style that is a little different from the classic, I like to add items to my wardrobe that stand out in that way. This past summer I was able to find a few items that fell into this category. I plan to do the same with my fall wardrobe.
This roll sleeve Oliphant dress has a drop waist and a pattern which is both vertical & horizontal. I paired it with my trusty jean jacket which I consider timeless and my new Jenn Lee Tulum Tote. This bag is a great summer staple as it is large enough to fit all your extras while being lightweight and simple.
This Anthropologie dress I just happened to stumble upon this summer. I liked the print and ordered it online to see how it would fit. I ended up loving it! The silhouette is super flattering and very comfortable. Again, the print offers something different (made in India) and the style is not like any other dress I own. (This dress is no longer available, but a similar option is linked here.) Again, I paired this with my Jenn Lee bag which quickly became my summer staple.
(Once again, you’ll recognize the bag!) These red trouser style linen pants are another unique piece. These are elastic waist providing so much comfort and versatility. In this case, I wore them out to dinner with a one shoulder top from last season. But they also pair well with a t-shirt or tank for a more casual look. (This pair of Banana Republic pants are no longer available however a similar option is linked here.) I always tend to gravitate towards pieces that I can easily dress up or down for maximum versatility.
Now it’s your turn. Time to add a couple of unique pieces to your fall wardrobe and try something different. It’s so easy for us to always gravitate towards the same style, especially when we find one that looks good. And this is a great approach overall. Find the styles that flatter your body and lean in. But don’t forget to try something different, add a new color or print, maybe start with an accessory that pops so that your wardrobe doesn’t begin to feel boring. Keeping a little something different in your closet will help to add a fresh take on your go to outfit.
